May 19 - 23, 2025
Kickapoo Family,
Thank you to everyone who helped with graduation Saturday evening! It was a beautiful ceremony and it isn't possible without all the work each of you put in behind the scenes. Thank you!
Enjoy the final week of 24-25. As you know, it is vital to keep students in class and engaged bell-to-bell all week long. We have already seen an uptick in discipline last week. Continue to follow the same rules and expectations we have had all year. Now is not the time to loosen up. We can all loosen up at 3:10:01 p.m. on Friday, May 23rd :-) Thank you and Go Chiefs!
MOST information you need now and for the year can be found here on our Quick Links.
If you'd like me to consider including something in this newsletter send it to me via email by 3 p.m. Friday.
* Morning Supervision May 19 - May 23 (7:40 - 8)Main Entrance Door 1 - Thomas
Attendance Door 18 - Turner
Commons - Vazquez
Under stairs in Commons - Morris
Roaming - Admin & Officers
Just kidding, I am happy to
help but know only enough to be dangerous. Thomas is your best bet if you are
stuck.
A few things that stood out
for me:
- Have
all assignments created by Friday, May 16 so there is plenty of time for them
to sync
- Manually
sync through the teacher portal each time you update grades this week
- And the
answer to the question I have been getting the most: Submissions and
grading completed on Friday, May 23rd may require you to manually update
the student grade in TAC.
- From Lisa - Do NOT use NGN for grades. This creates a major problem on our end. We know and understand those of you who teach Launch do this. However, do NOT do it for Kickapoo seated grades.
- After posting grades to Report Card (RC) in TAC you MUST check grades in TAC AND double check them with Canvas before leaving for summer to ensure they are accurate. If they are not go to the top of this list and start over :-)
- Thank you!
Check out a helpful guide on how to manually post grades to the TAC Report Card view.
* Grades for ELs - Hello teachers! As we wrap up the semester, please see the following reminder about grading for our EL students.Failing Grades for ELs
Per DESE, failing grades can only be assigned to an EL student if evidence-based modifications, accommodations, or supports were provided. You can read the full guidance from DESE here. Translation alone is typically not an adequate modification for our EL students. You can always view recommended supports and modifications by looking at a student’s ILP under the paperclip in eSchool.
Please let me know if you have any questions! Thanks!

Dual credit, AP, IB, and virtual classes
are not eligible for final exemptions.
If you have a student between 50-59% then you can sign them up for Incentive I. You MUST sign up your student by end of day May 22. Yes, that is before finals. If they pass their final, send me an email and I will remove them. You MUST talk to the parents or get an email confirmation! They will have to provide transportation home as it is one day only. Dinner will be provided but not snacks or drinks. I will have tutors available to help. No late sign-ups! If they are in danger sign them up and then remove them on Friday
The work cannot be on canvas and should be tied to how far away from the 60% and be able to be done in 6 hours. Tests, worksheets, project, research paper are all ideas. Please give me all work by end of the day on May 22 and it must include a key or rubric for grading! Send all materials as I will not be able to find you to get anything.
Any questions, please ask me. This is the students last chance to get credit and pass.
